Complete walkthrough for configuring your C-Band Mailbox operator account, including business profile setup, location configuration, payment integration, and CMRA registration verification for US and Canadian operators.
Account Configuration
Configuring your C-Band Mailbox operator account is the foundation of a successful mailbox operation. This comprehensive guide walks you through every step of the setup process, from establishing your business profile to verifying your postal compliance credentials. Whether you operate in the United States, Canada, or both, this guide ensures your account is configured correctly from day one.
Business Profile Setup
Your business profile is the cornerstone of your operator account. It establishes your identity on the platform and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements in both the US and Canada.
Legal Business Information
Begin by entering your official business details:
- Legal Business Name: The exact name registered with your state, provincial, or federal business registry. This must match your business license and tax filings.
- DBA (Doing Business As): If you operate under a trade name different from your legal name, enter it here. This is the name renters will see on the platform.
- Business Type: Select your entity type - sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, corporation, or other applicable structure. Canadian operators should specify their provincial or federal incorporation status.
- Business Registration Number: For US operators, this is your EIN (Employer Identification Number). For Canadian operators, provide your Business Number (BN) issued by the CRA.
- Business License: Upload a copy of your current business license or registration certificate. Ensure it is valid and not expired.
Contact Information
Provide accurate contact details that will be used for platform communications, renter inquiries, and regulatory correspondence:
- Primary business email address
- Business phone number
- Emergency contact information
- Preferred communication language (English or French for Canadian operators)
Location Setup
Your physical location is where renters will receive mail and packages. Accurate location data is essential for compliance and customer experience.
Physical Address Configuration
Enter your complete business address, including:
- Street address (must be a physical location, not a PO Box)
- Suite or unit number (if applicable)
- City, state/province, and ZIP/postal code
- Country (United States or Canada)
Operating Hours
Set your standard business hours for each day of the week. Include:
- Regular business hours (when renters can visit for pickups)
- Holiday schedule and closures
- Extended hours (if applicable)
- After-hours pickup availability (if offered)
Service Area Configuration
Define the geographic area you serve. This helps renters find your location and determines which postal services are available:
- Primary service radius
- Carrier pickup schedules for your area
- Available forwarding destinations
Payment Setup - Stripe Connect Onboarding
C-Band Mailbox uses Stripe Connect to process renter payments and distribute your earnings. The onboarding process is straightforward:
- Initiate Stripe Connect: Click the "Connect Payment Account" button in your dashboard. You will be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding flow.
- Business Verification: Stripe will verify your business identity, including your EIN or Business Number, business address, and beneficial ownership information.
- Bank Account Setup: Link the bank account where you want to receive payouts. US operators link a US bank account (USD), and Canadian operators link a Canadian bank account (CAD).
- Identity Verification: Stripe may require additional identity verification for the account holder, including a government-issued photo ID.
- Completion: Once verified, your Stripe Connect account is active. Payouts are deposited according to the platform payout schedule (15 days after month-end per the Operator Terms & Conditions Section 5.5).
CMRA Registration Verification
One of the most critical steps in your account configuration is verifying your postal compliance credentials. Requirements differ by country:
United States - USPS CMRA Registration
US operators must hold a valid CMRA (Commercial Mail Receiving Agency) registration with the United States Postal Service. To verify:
- Upload your CMRA registration confirmation from USPS
- Provide your CMRA registration number
- Confirm your registered address matches your platform location
- Ensure you have notary access for processing PS Form 1583 for each renter
For detailed USPS compliance information, see our Postal Compliance Basics guide.
Canada - Canada Post Commercial Mail Receiving Authorization
Canadian operators must hold a valid commercial mail receiving agreement with Canada Post. To verify:
- Upload your Canada Post commercial agreement
- Provide your agreement reference number
- Confirm compliance with the Canada Post Corporation Act and Mail Receptacles Regulations (SOR/83-743)
- Ensure your location meets Canada Post facility requirements
Integration Checklist
Before going live, verify all integrations are properly configured:
- Stripe Connect: Payment processing active, bank account verified, test payout received
- Notification System: Email and SMS notifications configured and tested
- Scanner Integration: Scanning equipment connected, minimum 300 DPI verified
- Document Templates: PS Form 1583 (US) or Canada Post authorization forms (Canada) downloaded and ready
- Address Format: US operators configured for PMB/# format; Canadian operators configured for Suite/Unit format
Dashboard Overview for New Operators
Once your account is configured, your operator dashboard provides a centralized command center:

- Mail Management: Receive, scan, forward, and manage mail items
- Customer Management: View and manage renter accounts, verification status, and service plans
