Configuring Your Notification Settings
C-Band Mailbox provides a comprehensive notification system that keeps you informed about your mail, account activity, billing, and security. This guide walks you through how to access and configure your notification preferences to match your communication style, whether you prefer real-time alerts for every event or a condensed weekly summary.
Accessing Notification Settings
To access your notification preferences:
- Log in to your C-Band Mailbox dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings > Notifications.
- You will see a settings panel organized by notification category, with toggles for each delivery channel.
Notification Categories
Your notifications are organized into the following categories, each of which can be independently configured:

These notifications keep you informed about activity related to your physical mail:

These notifications track the progress of your action requests:
- Request received: Confirmation that your action request (scan, forward, shred, pickup) has been submitted.
- Request in progress: Updates when the operator begins processing your request.

These notifications are critical for account security:

- Two-factor authentication changes: Notification when 2FA is enabled, disabled, or modified.

Marketing and Promotional
These optional notifications include:
- New feature announcements.
- Tips and guides for using your mailbox effectively.
- Promotional offers and discounts.
- Company newsletters and updates.
Marketing notifications are entirely optional and can be fully disabled without affecting your account or service.
Notification Channels
For each notification category, you can choose which delivery channels to use:
- Email: Detailed notifications sent to your registered email address. This is the default channel for all notification types.
- SMS: Brief text message alerts sent to your registered phone number. Best for time-sensitive notifications. Standard carrier messaging rates may apply.
To configure channels for a specific notification category:
- Locate the category in your notification settings.
- Toggle the Email and SMS switches on or off for each notification type.
- Click "Save" to apply your changes.
CASL Compliance (Canada)
If your mailbox is located in Canada, your notification settings comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), as outlined in our Terms & Conditions Schedule A, Section A5:
- Express consent required for marketing: You will only receive marketing and promotional emails if you have explicitly opted in. During signup, you are given the option to consent to marketing communications.
- Withdraw consent anytime: You can withdraw your consent for marketing messages at any time through your notification settings or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Transactional messages exempt: Notifications related to your account activity, billing, and security are classified as transactional messages and do not require separate consent under CASL. These are necessary for the operation of your account and service.
- Identification requirements: All commercial electronic messages from C-Band Mailbox include our company name, physical address, and contact information, as required by CASL.
CAN-SPAM and TCPA Compliance (United States)
If your mailbox is located in the United States, your notification settings comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), as outlined in our Terms & Conditions Schedule B, Section B7:
- Opt-out mechanism: Every marketing email includes a clear and conspicuous opt-out mechanism (unsubscribe link). Opt-out requests are processed within 10 business days.
- No misleading headers: All emails from C-Band Mailbox accurately identify the sender and include a valid physical address.
- SMS consent: SMS notifications are only sent with your prior express consent, as required by TCPA. You can revoke SMS consent at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message or by disabling SMS in your notification settings.
- Transactional exemption: Account-related transactional messages (billing, security, service updates) are exempt from CAN-SPAM opt-out requirements.
Transactional Messages That Cannot Be Disabled
For the safety and proper functioning of your account, certain transactional notifications are always sent regardless of your preferences:
- Security alerts (password changes, new logins, suspicious activity).
- Critical billing notifications (payment failures, account suspension warnings).
- Account status changes (verification required, account deactivation).
- Legal and policy update notices.
These messages are essential for maintaining the security and integrity of your account and are required by our service agreement and applicable regulations.
Tips for Optimizing Your Notifications
- Enable SMS for urgent alerts: If you want immediate notification when new mail arrives, enable SMS for the "New mail received" category.
- Use daily digest for routine items: If you receive a high volume of mail, consider switching to daily digest emails to reduce inbox clutter while staying informed.
- Keep security alerts on: Never attempt to disable security notifications. They are your first line of defense against unauthorized account access.
- Review periodically: Revisit your notification settings every few months to ensure they still match your needs, especially if your mail volume or usage patterns have changed.
