Step-by-step guide to updating your payment information on your C-Band Mailbox account, including replacing expired cards, handling failed payments, and preventing service interruptions.
Updating Your Payment Information
Keeping your payment information up to date is essential for maintaining uninterrupted service with your C-Band Mailbox account. Expired cards, declined transactions, and outdated billing details are the most common causes of payment failures, which can lead to service interruptions if not addressed promptly. This guide walks you through how to update your payment method, what happens when a payment fails, and how to reactivate your account if it has been suspended.
How to Update Your Payment Method
Updating your payment method in the dashboard is a quick and straightforward process:
- Log in to your C-Band Mailbox dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings > Billing > Payment Methods.
- You will see a list of your saved payment methods. Locate the card you want to update.
- Click the three-dot menu next to the card.
- Select "Edit" to update the card details, or "Remove" to delete it and add a new one.
- If adding a new card, click "Add Payment Method" and enter the new card details.
- Set the new card as your default payment method if it should be used for all future charges.
- Click "Save" to apply your changes.
All payment information is processed and stored securely through Stripe. Your card details are never stored on C-Band servers. For more details about our payment security, see adding payment methods.
Replacing an Expired Card
Credit and debit cards have expiration dates, and when your card expires, any automatic payment attempts will fail. To prevent this:
- Check the expiration date of your current payment method in Settings > Billing > Payment Methods.
- If your card is expiring soon, add your new card before the expiration date.
- Set the new card as your default payment method.
- Optionally, remove the expired card to keep your payment methods list clean.
We recommend setting a personal reminder (calendar alert, phone reminder) at least 2 weeks before your card expiration date to ensure you have time to update your information.
What Happens When a Payment Fails
If an automatic payment attempt fails for any reason (expired card, insufficient funds, bank decline, fraud block), the following process is triggered:
- Email notification: You receive an immediate email notification informing you of the failed payment. The email includes the reason for failure (if provided by your bank) and instructions for updating your payment method.
- Automatic retry: Our billing system will automatically retry the payment within 24-48 hours. If the issue is temporary (such as a brief insufficient funds situation), the retry may succeed without any action on your part.
- 7-day grace period: You have a 7-day grace period from the date of the first failed payment to update your payment information and resolve the issue. During the grace period, your account remains fully active and you can continue to use all services.
- Additional reminders: You will receive follow-up email reminders during the grace period, including at the 3-day and 1-day marks before potential suspension.
- Account pause: If the payment issue is not resolved within the 7-day grace period, your account access may be paused as outlined in our Terms & Conditions Section 6.6. During suspension, you will not be able to access your mail, submit action requests, or use any dashboard features.
Reactivation After Suspension
If your account has been suspended due to non-payment, you can reactivate it by following these steps:
- Log in to your dashboard. You will see a notification about the pause and the outstanding balance.
- Update your payment method with a valid card that has sufficient funds.
- Pay the outstanding balance, which includes the overdue subscription fee plus any applicable late payment fees (1.5% per month on overdue amounts, per Terms & Conditions Section 6.3).
- Confirm payment. Once the payment is processed successfully, your account will be reactivated immediately.
- Verify your mail: After reactivation, check your mail inbox to ensure all items received during the pause period are accounted for. Note that some operators may have limited processing during the pause period.
Important Notes About Suspension
- Mail during suspension: While your account is paused, your operator may continue to receive and store mail on your behalf. However, you will not receive notifications or be able to take action on these items until your account is reactivated.
- Storage fees: Mail items that accumulate during suspension may be subject to storage fees once the 30-day complimentary period expires.
- Extended non-payment: If an account remains inactive for an extended period, we may need to return mail to the sender in accordance with our Terms & Conditions. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking any action. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking any such action.
Ensuring Uninterrupted Service
Follow these best practices to prevent payment issues and ensure your mailbox service is never interrupted:
- Keep multiple payment methods on file. If your primary card fails, the system can attempt to charge your backup card.
- Monitor your email for billing alerts. Ensure that emails from cbanddigital.com are not filtered into your spam or junk folder.
- Set expiration reminders. Note when your card expires and update it well before the expiration date.
- Check your bank's fraud settings. Some banks may flag recurring international transactions as suspicious. Contact your bank to whitelist charges from C-Band Mailbox or Stripe if you experience unexpected declines.
- Maintain sufficient funds. If you use a debit card, ensure your account has sufficient funds to cover the upcoming billing cycle before the billing date.
Security Tips
When updating your payment information:
- Only update from trusted devices and secure networks. Avoid using public Wi-Fi or shared computers.

- Verify the URL in your browser bar to ensure you are on the legitimate C-Band Mailbox website before entering any card details.
